Mission & History

The CSF's mission is to ensure the protection of the public by overseeing the mandatory continuing education, ethics and discipline of its some 34,000 members who are financial security advisors, group insurance and annuity advisors, financial planners, mutual fund representatives and scholarship plan representatives. For the past 25 years, the CSF has acted on many fronts, always as close as possible to the reality in field.

1999

Bill 188 establishes the CSF.

One of the first professional organizations to impose mandatory continuing education.

 

 

 

 

 

 

2001

Adoption of the Regulation on Ethics in Securities Disciplines.

 

 

 

 

 

 

2002

Recognition of its status as a self-regulatory organization.

 

 

 

 

 

 

2006

The first Canadian organization to require its members to complete a specific compliance training.

 

 

 

 

 

 

2011

The first Canadian organization to offer a tool that documents and demystifies compliance: InfoDéonto.

 

 

 

 

 

 

2013

Launch of the mandatory compliance course: a first in Canada! (Satisfaction rate of 94%).

 

 

 

 

 

 

2016

Launch of ProDéonto, the 2nd mandatory compliance course (Satisfaction rate of 97%).

 

 

 

 

 

 

2018

Bill 141 confirms the relevance of its multidisciplinary self-regulation model.

 

 

 

 

 

 

2019

Creation of the annual continuing education event ProLab CSF.

 

 

 

 

 

 

2020

Launch of the 3rd mandatory compliance course ProAdvice (Satisfaction rate of 97%).
