Maintaining discipline is a plus for your discipline
Montréal, June 20, 2023 - The Disciplinary Committee of the Chambre de la sécurité financière is being renewed! Do you have an exemplary practice and do you want to maintain public confidence in the profession? Apply for a three-year term (2024-2026) on the Disciplinary Committee of the CSF.
Peer discipline is the backbone of any self-regulatory organization. ”The CSF plays an essential role in protecting the public and maintaining consumer confidence in the financial system,” says Amélie Lemay, Secretary of the Disciplinary Committee.
Members of the Disciplinary Committee must understand and assess the scope of their peers' actions and, by sanctioning inappropriate behavior, they protect the public and help foster consumer trust in the financial services industry.
Role of the Disciplinary Committee
The Disciplinary Committee of the CSF hears complaints filed against member representatives in regards to potential violations of the Act respecting the distribution of financial products and services, the Securities Act, or one of their regulations, and determines whether an ethical violation was committed. If so, it shall determine the sanctions to be imposed.
Each complaint is heard by a subgroup of the Disciplinary Committee composed of three members: the chair or vice-chair or depute chairperson, and two members who work in the same discipline (or registration category) and marketing sector as the representative involved.
