The CSF unveils new portal to support members’ professional development and compliance
Montréal, December 7, 2022 - The Chambre de la sécurité financière (CSF) is pleased to announce the launch of the CSF Dealer/Firm Portal, a new application that will help support the professional oversight of its members. Designed to support compliance officers and responsible officers in Quebec’s financial services industry, the CSF Dealer/Firm Portal will allow CSF members to share their continuing education records directly with them. It is a prized instrument for any organization concerned with supporting the professional development of its advisors.
“Continuing education is one of the three fundamental pillars on which the CSF relies to accomplish its mission of protecting the public; we are thus very proud to introduce this new tool. With the CSF Dealer/Firm Portal, the CSF is working with all its partners to place the needs of advisors at the heart of its preventive action, and to better protect the public,” says Marie Elaine Farley, President and Chief Executive Officer of the CSF.
Starting in January, dealers and firms will be able to request access to the CSF Dealer/Firm Portal on the CSF’s website. Once a company account has been activated, the advisors attached to it will be able to allow the compliance team to consult the summary of their PDU records. Since everything is directly integrated into the CSF’s secure digital platform, members do not have to create a new account; they must simply record their consent in their secured Member’s area to allow real-time sharing of their PDU records with the firm(s) to which they are attached.
Over the next year, the use of the CSF Dealer/Firm Portal will be analyzed to identify opportunities for improvement and make adjustments as needed. The use of the Dealer/Firm Portal is not intended to replace advisors' individual responsibility to comply with CE rules, but rather to provide them with a new way to partner with their dealer or firm. Eventually, this tool could allow both compliance and CE managers to help their teams of advisors by, for example, working through a timeline, offering continuing education sessions, setting up adapted training or providing alerts or reminders of completed requirements.
