The Chambre de la sécurité financière (CSF) is currently seeking members or experts to contribute to its two advisory committees: the Professional Training and Development Committee (the CFDP) and the Regulatory Monitoring and Compliance of Practices Committee (the CVRCP).

These committees are set up by the CSF's Board of Directors to discuss certain issues and provide assistance in their decision-making process, in the interest of efficiency. Committees also study issues that fall within their mandates. The designated committee chairs report to the board on their work, make recommendations where appropriate, and support the CSF's management team.

The term of office for committee members is two years and is renewable. The committees are made up of two board directors and a maximum of nine industry members and professionals, as designated by the board. The CSF appoints a chair to lead the committee meetings among its leadership team.

Please note that the work of both committees is conducted in French.

 

Professional Training and Development Committee (CFDP)

The CFDP is an advisory committee that focuses on the training and professional development trends and needs of CSF members, and on the relevance of training courses offered to members by the CSF and by external organizations.

The CFDP’s responsibilities

  • Review and enhance members’ competency profiles according to their sector and provide advice to the CSF where appropriate.
  • Formulate opinions periodically on internal and external training offerings based on sectors’ needs.
  • Contribute to the monitoring of pedagogical and technological trends in training activities.
  • Contribute to the monitoring of members' training needs per the profession’s evolution.
  • Provide advice, as required, on the CSF’s Règlement sur la formation continue obligatoire.
  • Provide advice, as required, on the recognition of training activities process in accordance with the CSF’s Règlement sur la formation continue obligatoire.
  • Contribute to the CSF's review and consideration of issues related to the standards of competence of CSF members.

 

Regulatory Monitoring and Compliance of Practices Committee (CVRCP)

The CVRCP is an advisory committee whose main role is to keep abreast of regulatory trends in the distribution of financial products and services, and to advise on matters relating to professional ethics and compliance.

The CVRCP’s responsibilities

  • Contribute to the review of CSF’s Code of Ethics and make recommendations as required.
  • Contribute to the monitoring of regulatory trends in the financial products and services distribution sector and advise the CSF on their impact.
  • Contribute to the monitoring of professional practices, and advise the CSF on their evolution, as required.
  • Examine and enrich the content of the mandatory compliance course offered by the CSF.
  • Contribute to the CSF's views on issues related to ethics, regulatory monitoring and compliance.

By getting involved, you will be contributing to the advancement of the profession, gain a better understanding of the issues and challenges facing the 5 sectors and registration categories governed by the CSF, support the leadership team and, as needed, have a concrete impact on the decisions that affect the profession and the CSF.

Any member or expert with experience, expertise and interest in the committee's mandate may apply.

However, to be eligible, the person must not:

  • Have been found guilty by the CSF’s disciplinary committee or by another self-regulatory organization, by a disciplinary council of a professional order, or by the Tribunal administratif des marchés financiers.
  • Have been the subject of a court decision holding them liable in a matter related to their professional activities, whether civil, criminal or otherwise.
  • Have been convicted or found guilty of a penal or criminal offence or act related to their professional activities.

Committee members are expected to make themselves available to read materials and attend committee meetings. Committees meet either in person or by videoconference and as often as the CSF's interests require. The duration of meetings varies according to the subjects discussed and the work in progress.

An attendance allowance (under review) and reimbursement of expenses are granted to members, under the conditions established by the CSF’s policies.

Committee members are appointed for a 2-year mandate. Any member’s mandate can be renewed.
