CSF presents its new mandatory compliance training course
Montréal, March 13, 2025 - The Chambre de la sécurité financière (“the CSF””) is pleased to present Déonto Plus, the new mandatory compliance course for CSF members. Designed according to the best pedagogical approaches, this course is aimed at acquiring the knowledge and applying the skills needed to ensure compliance with ethical standards and professional practice in the financial services field.
“Since its launch, the CSF has led the way in mandatory continuing compliance training, and has in fact been followed by several other professional organizations. It is an essential part of protecting the public, as are ethical standards and discipline,” says Marie Elaine Farley, President and CEO of the CSF, adding that “by adopting best practices on a daily basis, developing the right habits and knowing how to tackle new issues, professionals can respond adequately to the growing needs of their clients”.
Three hours of compliance training
Deonto Plus is an e-learning course comprising three interactive modules of around one hour each, which users can follow at their own pace. Topics covered include advisors' duty to inform, the importance of keeping one's knowledge up to date, and sound business development practices.
The first module provides strategies for establishing a relationship of trust with the customer, optimizing active listening and responding effectively to behavioral biases. The second module focuses on the importance of maintaining and developing skills, particularly in relation to cybersecurity. Finally, the third module explores various aspects of promoting your products and services, notably through social media.
Obligations of CSF members
All CSF members must take the new Déonto Plus course by November 30, 2027. By taking it now, they will not only be able to quickly apply the knowledge they have acquired, but also obtain 3 PDUs in compliance with the current continuing education cycle, which ends on November 30, 2025.
