The CSF reinforces prevention with free training course on insurance contract replacement

Montréal, April 24, 2025 - In its ongoing commitment to prevention and to providing its members with the tools they need to practice according to the highest ethical standards, the Chambre de la sécurité financière (the “CSF”) has coordinated the updating of a key training course on the notice of replacement, now offered free of charge to all its members (in French only).

The 100% CSF training course, “Le préavis de remplacementdémystifié”, has been improved and updated, entitling participants to 4 PDUs in compliance, and can now be added to the continuing education file of CSF members.

“Non-compliance with the insurance contract replacement procedure is the offence most often alleged in requests for investigation over the past five years. With this initiative, the CSF is once again demonstrating its agility and ability to act proactively to equip its members and strengthen public protection,” points out Daniel Richard, CSF Vice President, Community Relations.

The initiative was prompted by the CSF's teams, who regularly receive questions from insurance of persons members on the application and requirements of the notice of replacement. When consulted, the CSF Syndic's team also pointed out that this subject is frequently raised in inquiries, as this document is regularly subject to omissions and errors.

At the same time as updating the training course, the CSF has revised the reference tool “When to use the replacement procedure?” and made it available at all times in the InfoDéonto Toolbox. This document presents practical examples that clearly illustrate the situations in which the notice is or is not required, and how to fill it out.

This concerted approach, drawing on a range of in-house expertise, testifies to the CSF's commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its members for the benefit of the public it protects.
